About Atlantic Furniture
Founded in 1983 as Watercraft, Inc., Atlantic Furniture started as a manufacturer of pine waterbed frames. Since then, the Springfield, Mass.-based company has expanded to Fontana, Calif. The company has moved away from the use of pine and now specializes in imported furniture made of the wood of rubber trees.
The Benefits of Eco-Friendly Rubberwood
Prized as an environmentally friendly wood, rubberwood makes use of trees that have been cut down at the end of their latex-producing life cycle. The trees are removed by hand and replaced with new seedlings. In the past, felled rubber trees were either burned on the spot or used as fuel for locomotive engines, brick firing, or latex curing. Now the wood is used in the manufacture of high-end furniture. It is valued for its dense grain, stability, attractive color, and acceptance of different finishes.
Atlantic's Unique Five-Step Finishing Process
Each product in the entire line is finished with a high-build, five-step finishing process. After a thorough sanding, a wipe-on sealer is applied, followed by a tinted sealer to even the grain and color of the wood. Additional sanding prepares the surface for the first base color coat, more sanding, and a second base color coat. After a final sanding, the finish coat is applied. This process produces a beautiful and durable finish that will last for years.

Good for the price

This Headboard is fine for a guest bedroom. While it is solid wood as advertised (no press board) it is not all continuous boards. The top and bottom rails and side posts are made from pieces of wood that are jointed together. You can't really notice it from a distance of 10 - 15 ft but you can see the different pieces up close. This jointed construction also makes the headboard weaker. It is packed in a very flimsy box. The first one we received had a crack in the bottom rail at one of the joints and the tops of both posts were badly scratched and dented. Headboard Source prompted shipped a replacement which arrived in the same flimsy (and barely intact) type of box but it was OK. It was exactly what we were looking for in our guest room at a relatively low price so we are pleased with the purchase. One additional note – the first one was quite a bit darker than the second, the first being closer to a light cherry than the second.

I searched the web for days trying to find a full sized headboard (not a queen with adaptations for a full). The space where my son's bed is would not fit a queen/full headboard. This was a perfect fit and the stain matched his existing furniture. One note: I read the reviews that said the lighter color was REALLY light, so I was thankful that the customer service rep told me to look at the Caramel Latte example on a bunkbed which was really true to color and the exact match for what I needed (I would have ordered the lighter color based on the headboard examples...thank goodness for the service rep!)
