About Atlantic Furniture
Founded in 1983 as Watercraft, Inc., Atlantic Furniture started as a manufacturer of pine waterbed frames. Since then, the Springfield, Mass.-based company has expanded to Fontana, Calif. The company has moved away from the use of pine and now specializes in imported furniture made of the wood of rubber trees.
The Benefits of Eco-Friendly Rubberwood
Prized as an environmentally friendly wood, rubberwood makes use of trees that have been cut down at the end of their latex-producing life cycle. The trees are removed by hand and replaced with new seedlings. In the past, felled rubber trees were either burned on the spot or used as fuel for locomotive engines, brick firing, or latex curing. Now the wood is used in the manufacture of high-end furniture. It is valued for its dense grain, stability, attractive color, and acceptance of different finishes.
Atlantic's Unique Five-Step Finishing Process
Each product in the entire line is finished with a high-build, five-step finishing process. After a thorough sanding, a wipe-on sealer is applied, followed by a tinted sealer to even the grain and color of the wood. Additional sanding prepares the surface for the first base color coat, more sanding, and a second base color coat. After a final sanding, the finish coat is applied. This process produces a beautiful and durable finish that will last for years.

We ordered a headboard twice. The first one was shipped in two pieces. The next one had two rips in the box which showed to hunks out of the headboard. This manufacture ships things poorly at least headboards.

My wife wanted a headboard and so I bought this one for Christmas. The color is a close match to our existing furniture so that was nice. Had to tweak the bed frame a touch as we have a "low profile" metal bed frame and the holes to attach the headboard did not match up exactly. Works as a headboard should but we have it up against the wall. Not strong enough to support body weight if it was free standing. Looks great especially for the price. Works for me!
Service and delivery comments:
As others have stated, the shipping box is weak, weak, WEAK! Mine came damaged and the shipping company said they would make a notation if when we opened the box, the headboard was damaged. It had a small scratch but nothing I couldn't live with and not serious enough to warrant the hassle of sending it back. They really should package these things better. I would even be willing to pay more if they weren't shipping in cardboard "tissue paper" boxes.

It took three attempts to get a headboard that matched the picture in quality, but we persevered. The first two headboards were of sub-standard quality both in material and finish. Customer service was fantastic. Everyone was determined to make it right for us and our third headboard arrived in good shape.
