About Atlantic Furniture
Founded in 1983 as Watercraft, Inc., Atlantic Furniture started as a manufacturer of pine waterbed frames. Since then, the Springfield, Mass.-based company has expanded to Fontana, Calif. The company has moved away from the use of pine and now specializes in imported furniture made of the wood of rubber trees.


The Benefits of Eco-Friendly Rubberwood
Prized as an environmentally friendly wood, rubberwood makes use of trees that have been cut down at the end of their latex-producing life cycle. The trees are removed by hand and replaced with new seedlings. In the past, felled rubber trees were either burned on the spot or used as fuel for locomotive engines, brick firing, or latex curing. Now the wood is used in the manufacture of high-end furniture. It is valued for its dense grain, stability, attractive color, and acceptance of different finishes.


Atlantic's Unique Five-Step Finishing Process
Each product in the entire line is finished with a high-build, five-step finishing process. After a thorough sanding, a wipe-on sealer is applied, followed by a tinted sealer to even the grain and color of the wood. Additional sanding prepares the surface for the first base color coat, more sanding, and a second base color coat. After a final sanding, the finish coat is applied. This process produces a beautiful and durable finish that will last for years.

A funny aside: We opened the first box and there were 4 legs. The second box, 4 more legs. Took a few seconds to realize that one set was for a lower bed and one set for a higher bed! FUNNY!

This bed is pretty much what I wanted. The construction and attachment hardware seem solid (except for one screw that sheared off while installing the slats)and they provide two sets of legs (box springs and no box springs) so you can achieve the optimum height. The instructions were clear enough (along with a little common sense)and it went together quickly and with minimum effort. The lines are simple and clean and it is certainly an improvement over the steel frame the mattress used to rest on.

However, it is not a bed you want as an integral part of your decor. The wood is manufactured (that is spliced together, like pre-primed wood trim) and the splices are easily visible through the clear finish. The cherry finish I ordered is uneven with numerous bubbles and streaks (although perfectly acceptable from a distance). I imagine even the solid finishes carry enough imperfections to mitigate against the frame as a decorator item.

Only time will tell if the frame holds up, but for the moment I am perfectly satisfied.

    This bed frame is great. Very affordable, simple. I have the darker color and it is lovely. I put it together all on my own (I'm a moderately small female) and have been using it for a few weeks now. Sturdy. No complaints. Even though it is pretty cheap the materials are decent and it looks great once put together!

        I am very pleased with the light cherry wood frame; the color matched my dresser perfectly, and the wood is solid and handsome. Was relatively easy to assemble, too. My main complaint is with the slat support legs that attach to the center of the bed frame. The legs are incredibly cheap wood: unfinished and untreated, and boards split a bit under the pressure of the screwdriver. I'm concerned that the legs won't hold, but it's been 3 nights and so far so good...

              I wanted my son's bed up off the floor and I wanted a platform. The Concord platform seemed reasonably priced. It arrived in four days in three boxes. Assembly was easy and included everything that was needed. The construction seems fine, but my son is a large person and time will tell if it is substantial enough to hold his weight. i was impressed that this bed included two heights to secure on the frame..one for use with a box spring and one with just the mattress. We are using the lower legs as we have a box spring. This bed will be used on a irregular basis, as he is not living here at this time, but I am happy my purchase. The frame looks attractive in his room.

              Q1: How many slats does this bed have?

              A: This bed has 14 solid hardwood slats. 

              Q2: What is the weight capacity?

              A: Our supplier has provided the following information : We don't have a specific max out weight but the beds are tested up to 300 lbs of static pressure and pass with flying colors. You also have the option of purchasing a second slat kit to roll over the first so that the slats inerlock which would create a solid base for the mattress.

              Q3: Where is this manufactured?

              A: Atlantic Furniture is manufactured in Indonesia (and Vietnam).
