Description

The minimalist, contemporary design of the Murray Platform Bed is perfect for a recent college grad or apartment-dweller with limited space. The bare bones platform frame made of yellow meranti wood is designed to be used with a mattress only without attaching a headboard. Since the frame has a center support and slat system, no box spring is required. Available in your choice of finishes, the Murray Platform Bed is part of Fashion Bed Group's Urban Options Collection, a group of beds and daybeds designed to give you a variety of choices.  Underbed clearance is 5.5 inches. Mattress and bedding are not included.


Optional nightstands are available with this contemporary platform bed. Featuring clean, open design elements, the matching nightstands attach directly to the bed frame. Order one or two to suit your preference.

This is a follow up to my previous review. If you have to move the bed, to vacuum etc. be sure and grab it at the corners (where the metal hardware is)this is were it is the most sturdy. I would not recomment grabbing the bed from any side rail or top or bottom rail to move it. I almost did and was afraid it was going to crack the wood. Also, don't forget to add in the weight of the mattress and the weight of the people dogs etc that will be sleeping in the bed to get to the overall max weight capacity of the bed. Again I was told by customer service the queen size bed will hold up to 600lbs.

It's really too bad I have to give this a low review. After the mess we went through, it's a great platform, but [...] the instructions show one of the illustrations incorrectly so we put it together upside down and then had to redo it...Just make sure you don't throw out your box springs before putting it together like we did-oops!

    When assembled, king size is sturdy with 8 legs (4 on corners and 4 center support legs underneath the middle of bed.)One minor aesthetic comment, the 4 center support legs under the bed are bare wood and not stained to match the corner legs and bed rails. Therefore when linens are tucked in, about 3" of one unfinished center support leg (which is closest to the foot of the bed)is visable from a distance.

          The product itself was fine except that I ordered the Mahogany color expecting a warm brown and it was most definitely a cherry wood finish. This didn't match at all with my color scheme and I had to return it. The other problem was that to exchange for the other color, I had to return and re-order the piece resulting in return shipping costs and a wait time for my product as if I had just ordered it for the first time. I am a bit miffed at this fact. Other than that, the product looked quality and easy to assemble which is why I re-ordered it at all.

          Service and delivery comments:

          Delivery was on time and they found my building which I expected to be a problem. I was pleased to find it at my doorstep, no problems incurred.

          Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

            Most of our furniture is vintage but we wanted a low bed that would be easy for our older lab to get up on. The Murray platform is so simple that it doesn't clash with our vintage peices. It was easy to assemble (with two people) and seems to support our king-sized memory foam mattress very well.
