If your bedroom's big on style but small on space, the optional under-bed drawers let you store linens, clothing, extra blankets, and more. Choose two or four flat panel or raised panel drawers to fit your storage needs. Plus, the Bordeaux I is easy to assemble. A hook-and-rail system provides lasting connection between the platform bed's joints while making disassembly a breeze. The pins also join the bed to its sleigh-style headboard. All this, and you won't even need a box spring! However, thanks to a frame that adjusts in height, this platform bed can be used with a mattress alone or a box spring with mattress - whichever you wish.

Founded in 1983 as Watercraft, Inc., Atlantic Furniture started as a manufacturer of pine waterbed frames. Since then, the Springfield, Mass.-based company has expanded to Fontana, Calif. The company has moved away from the use of pine and now specializes in imported furniture made of the wood of rubber trees.
The Benefits of Eco-Friendly Rubberwood
Prized as an environmentally friendly wood, rubberwood makes use of trees that have been cut down at the end of their latex-producing life cycle. The trees are removed by hand and replaced with new seedlings. In the past, felled rubber trees were either burned on the spot or used as fuel for locomotive engines, brick firing, or latex curing. Now the wood is used in the manufacture of high-end furniture. It is valued for its dense grain, stability, attractive color, and acceptance of different finishes.
Atlantic's Unique Five-Step Finishing Process
Each product in the entire line is finished with a high-build, five-step finishing process. After a thorough sanding, a wipe-on sealer is applied, followed by a tinted sealer to even the grain and color of the wood. Additional sanding prepares the surface for the first base color coat, more sanding, and a second base color coat. After a final sanding, the finish coat is applied. This process produces a beautiful and durable finish that will last for years.

A nice affordable bed with clean lines. be aware that slat system comes with center slat supports that are visible, so pictures are a little misleading.
Service and delivery comments:
arrived in a broken box after estimated date and i needed to call to check on status a few times. hayneedle was nice about damange to bed (chips from shipping) and offered a return or small discount.

The attractive, classic design of this bed is similar to higher-end brands but for much less. Was a little skeptical it would be a quality piece upon close inspection. It did have slight bubbling under the veneers in a few areas. I can overlook that- especially since it was so inexpensive and really fit our budget. The assembly was easy, though the hardware for the slats was missing. A quick trip to the hardware store and we had it assembled in about 2 hours.

Q1: Why are the legs different in some of the pictures?
A: Any of the beds we sell by Atlantic Furniture that have an open foot rail will have sets of both, short and tall legs. If you would like to use the underbed storage you will need to use the tall legs.

A: Atlantic Furniture is manufactured in Indonesia (and Vietnam).
