I shopped around for months for a new bed for my daughter. This is the only canopy bed that I found online that doesn't look "cheap" and is under $1000! I was going for the[...]look and this bed was probably half the price of the one on[...] But what the item description doesn't tell you is that you need to buy a board for under the mattress. You do not need a box spring but something that the delivery man was calling a "boogie board". He said [...] sells it for [$] and it is needed to support the mattress since there are only 3 wooden slats that are holding the mattress. For the meantime, my husband cut some ply wood and put it under there which was alot cheaper and gets the job done. Also, you should know that that canopy railings up top are not round, they are square, so this might make a difference if you are planning to hang a special type of curtain or canopy from it. I bought some canopy sheers from [...] to hang from my daughers bed, they tie like a bow on top so it works just fine. Overall, I would suggest this bed since the price is great and it appears to be high quality. You should also note that the bed is not pure white, which is what i wanted to match all of her other white fruniture. It really isn't ivory either, maybe off white is the right way to describe it. So it irritates me a little that everything doesn't match, but we are thinking about spraying it white.
